Phrasal Verbs(片語) 3 - Strike

'So I think we should go on strike and show the manager who is really important - the boss or the worker.'
'No, George, you're making a big mistake. It's much better to build up good relations with the managers, even if it does happen slowly.'
'Oh, I'm all for a happy atmosphere. Did I ever say I wasn't?’

'No, but we've got enough money to get by at the moment. I know you want more than the minimum, but you're asking for too much. These are hard times, and we've just got to put up with them."
'I agree that we've got enough money now; but what happens when prices go up again?

Phrasal Verbs(片語) 2 - In The Morning

Phrasal Verb…
Jane: You're not properly awake yet, are you?
Sarah: How do you know?
Jane: Well, look how you've made up your face. And you shirt is done up so that one side is higher than the other.

Sarah: Oh dear. I look awful.
Jane: I'd have a wash and start again, if I were you.
Sarah: It's terrible. I keep on oversleeping. I wake up late nearly everyday, and I have to get up in a hurry....

Jane: I know just what it's like. I never get enough time to myself in the mornings.
Sarah: Time! I don't have time to see to the children' s breakfast, let alone
worry about anything else.
  • Make up(N1,N2,P1,!) - You make your face up with cosmetics or make-up. You can also make (yourself) up.
  • Keep on(G)- When you keep on talking you talk repeatedly.
  • Wake up(N1,N2,P1,!) - An alarm clock wakes you up. When you hear it you wake up.
  • Get up(N1,P1,!) - You get up in the morning. You get a baby up.
  • See to(N2,P2) - When a job needs to be done you see to it.
  • Do up(N1,N2,P1) - 見On the Plane
You're not properly awake yet, are you? "

In the aeroplane ]ames’s mother gave the boarding cards to the stewardess, who showed them to their seats. They sat down, and his mother showed him how to do up his seat belt.

’Sit still, and don't get up until I say you can,’ she said, lighting a cigarette.
’No smoking until we are in the air, please," said a stewardess.
'I'm sorry,’ answered ]ames’s mother. ‘I'll put it out.’

’Are we going to take off now, Mum?’ asked James, eager to be in the sky. ‘My favourite bit is when the plane speeds up and pushes you back into your seat.
